Art-i-Facts from Miro

Miro’s art is a great example of how fabulous art does not need to be complicated. Enjoy these art facts about him!

Miro was a famous Spanish painter.  He was born in 1893 and died in 1983.
Miro said, “I try to apply colors like words that shape poems, like notes that shape music.”

Miro thought that the feet of a person keeps that person in contact with the creative force coming from the earth.  Look for feet and feet-like symbols in his paintings!

Miro tried out painting in the cubist style like Picasso, but eventually developed his own unique style.

Miro loved stars and the constellations.

In 1940’s Miro did a series of paintings called the “Constellations”

Black was one of Miro’s most important colors he used throughout his paintings.

In 1932 Miro had a art show at the Pierre Matisse Gallery in New York city.
(Pierre Matisse was famous painter Henri Matisse’s son)

Miro, late in his life, did bronze sculptures and worked in ceramics (clay).
